Dark Visage
I really don't subscribe to one-day paintings, but this one came quite a long way in four hours. It's rather small, 10x8 inches, and I was enjoying the softness afforded by the wet paint. The features are borrowed from a sculpture bust I studied in the Musee d'Orsay. The color, hair, and clothing have been invented and the gesture altered. I have been toying with the idea appropriating sculptural forms for a little while now, reanimating them and casting them into roles in my little dramas. This also may be the darkest painting to date, perhaps even a little darker than the photo.
